The story is that Danny Archer (Leonardo DiCaprio), a white African born in Zimbabwe, is a mercenary soldier who became a diamond smuggler and arms dealer. Solomon Vanda (Jimohunsu) is a fisherman from the Mande tribe. Maddy Bowen (Jennifer Connelly) is a magazine reporter who has come to Africa for adventure.
Solomon’s village is invaded by rebels and Solomon is captured. He is taken to the mine as a laborer. Then he finds a pink diamond, which is very valuable in the history of diamonds.

Danny smells a pink diamond from Solomon, whom he met in prison, and he follows Solomon. Maddie wants to extort information from Danny and expose the diamond magnates who are laundering blood diamonds and putting them on the diamond market.

The three of them are people who risk their lives to pursue their own interests during the civil war. Solomon is after his family and his son, Dera, who has been taken by the rebels. Danny is after the pink diamond. Maddie is after the news.

The film was a huge success, receiving five Oscar nominations. Leonardo and Jimi Hendrix were also nominated for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor. It also made a lot of money. It is a beautiful and classic film, worth the time and money to watch.
