During the Japanese occupation of Korea, he was the son of a laborer in the household of a Japanese military officer. He was a fast runner and wanted to win the Olympic marathon gold medal. He and Hasegawa, the grandson of a Japanese officer of the same age, were always rivals, but due to a tragic incident, Gin Joon-shik became a rickshaw puller at a young age.
He never gave up, and another opportunity came his way, but when World War II broke out, their dreams were dashed. When Gin Joon-shik and Hasegawa met again, it was not on the marathon track, but on the battlefield. When Gun Jun-shik and Hasegawato fight in numerous battles, their dream is not to win an Olympic gold medal, but to run home. Will Gun Jun-shik and Hasegawato be able to return home?
